SOME THINGS ARE TRUE IF YOU BELIEVE IT OR NOT
Written by Captain Mary on Friday, October 31, 2008I got this in an email and thought that it was worth posting due to the Upcoming Election.
COWS Is it just me, or does anyone else find it amazing that during the mad cow epidemic our government could track a single cow, born in Canada almost three years ago, right to the stall where she slept in the state of Washington? And, they tracked her calves to their stalls. But they are unable to locate 11 million illegal aliens wandering around our country. Maybe we should give each of them a cow.
THE CONSTITUTION They keep talking about drafting a Constitution for Iraq .... why don't we just give them ours? It was written by a lot of really smart guys, it has worked for over 200 years, and we're not using it anymore.
THE 10 COMMANDMENTS The real reason that we can't have the Ten Commandments posted in a courthouse is this -- you cannot post 'Thou Shalt Not Steal' 'Thou Shalt Not Commit Adultery' and 'Thou Shall Not Lie' in a building full of lawyers, judges and politicians ... it creates a hostile work environment.
It is time for America to speak up!

Written by Captain Mary on Thursday, October 30, 2008I noticed so many things, how they want people who are making $6,000 to make over $91,000, I would call that a bit of a stretch. I thought that there should be more things to vote on, insurance, taxes, taxes and more taxes. It doesn't really look like we get much of a choice when it comes to the things that really effect us.
I know one thing that really bugs me is how much I am paying on my home taxes for schools, I haven't had a kid in school for years. I think that only the people who use the school system should pay for the schools. I don't generally pay for things that I don't need or want. Why do I have to pay for schools? I would rather pay for police and fire services, something that we all want to have. They cut the things that we all need to increase the things that only a few need! Does this sound American to you? We don't have health care or any of the things that really matter. The economy is shot, we constantly bail out the rich, they make mistakes and who pays for it.
I think I have rambled enough, my point is, we must vote in order to make those real changes. We have to make our voice loud and make them heard. Your vote represents the little guy, but only if the little guy gets out there and does his/her job.
VOTE NOW, YOU CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE
BLACK BELT CEREMONY
Written by Captain Mary on Wednesday, October 29, 2008Well two years of hard work has ended up with me receiving my First Degree Black Belt. The ceremony was wonderful, my nerves were shot. The hardest part of the ceremony was when I had to get up and make my speech. I kept breaking down in tears, and then trying to fumble through the rest of my speech without my glasses on, it was hysterical. Then I had to get back up to receive my certificates for State Champion, in sparring and forms.
The ceremony consisted of first lighting a candle, then presenting the Master with a gold coin in our appreciation, next was the tying of our new Black Belt for the first time. As I begun this part of the ceremony my sister June walked in the door and along with my daughter, Monica, the kids, Shy, Sam, and Max and best friend Shelah held the end of the belt to complete this part of the ceremony. I was so shocked to see my sister and so happy when I saw her smiling face, I fell once again into tears.

Here is the story to the best of my knowledge: There was a time long ago in a far away kingdom, a little lady was alone raising her children. The lady was very poor and her children were very hungry, so she set out to find food for her family. She began searching while riding her cart along the lonely roads.
At the other end of the Kingdom was a large festival of royal proportions. The king of the festival had this yearly event and all the Nobel's were invited, the king would always give as gifts to the guests a bag of trinkets. Some trinkets of gold, silver, jewels and coins. This year the king wanted to do something different, so instead of presenting the guests with a bag of trinkets he presented them with pumpkins. As the guests departed the festival with their pumpkins, they were not impressed by the kings gesture and threw the wonderful pumpkins outside of the kingdom gates. Each guest casting their gift as they left the gates.
The little lady still searching for food for her family approaches the gates to the kingdom and finds many pumpkins. She was so excited that she would be able to feed her family for many months, for as we all know pumpkins stay fresh for a very long time. She arrived home after loading all the pumpkins on her cart. The little lady began to prepare the pumpkin for her family when upon opening the pumpkin she found untold wealth, the king had placed the usual trinkets inside of the pumpkins, there were jewels, gold, silver, and many more beautiful items. So when someone gives you a pumpkin, they are giving you the gift of "Untold Wealth and Riches", because they care about you.
MEN OF HONOR
Written by Captain Mary on Thursday, October 02, 2008
It's about a man who wanted to become a deep sea diver in the face of adversity. He came from a share cropper background, joined the military during a time that prejudice was high. Opportunity for black men was very limited, but he never gave up trying to reach his goals. This story is a great one for anyone who thinks about giving up, this man didn't give up no matter what the odds. He over came obstacles and hurdles that only determination could conquer.
As a diver and captain I appreciate the call of the sea. For every time I take my boat out and I reach the last channel marker leading toward the sea; it's like a veil is lifted from my soul. I look out toward the deep blue water and all my worries and sadness disappear. I find myself smiling uncontrollably and I don't understand it, all I know is that this is the place I am most happy. My next vision could be of dolphins jumping and playing, stingrays flipping into the air, or even whales exhaling. The sense of something incredible and maybe even dangerous, exhilarating my existence.
OH MY GUMBA
Written by Captain Mary on Wednesday, October 01, 2008
How is my little Gumba doing? The kitten that was adopted is living the life, he has two dogs that take good care of him. Duchess and Lucy are now his care takers. My sister June tends to treat her critters like family, which is a great thing for the critter. June is experiencing one of those things that only cat lovers know. For cats are the greatest of lovers, the best part is that they never sniff your crotch and don't drool on you. I am both a dog and cat lover and pretty much any animal that makes it to my door.
